The Flip X and Flip Y options allow you to flip the brush shape horizontally, vertically or both together. Play around to adjust the spacing for your stroke, which will look different for each brush.
Per default the spacing is set to 25% for the Leaf Brush. Though it’s at the bottom of the panel, lets start by exploring the Spacing, a very powerful option. I’ve also unchecked all of the other category settings to isolate just the single functionality for now. It’s best to explore them with a unique brush shape, so I’ve selected the Leaf Brush to demonstrate. The Brush Tip Shape gives us several very interesting options. We covered the Brush Presets in our previous article, so let’s start by going through the other categories. As you can see, the settings are split into several different categories. Open the Brush Panel from the toolbar or over the menu Window > Brush. The most complex settings for brushes can be found in the Brush Panel. With this one, we’ll learn how to more precisely control the brush, and push the limits of its use. I'm not quite sure which setting or, more likely, combination of settings allow the brush to do this.In the previous article in this series, you learned the most basic information every designer needs to know about the Photoshop Brush Tool. I tried this smooth water-colour brush for shading in a recent drawing and it was one the easiest and most efficiant and good-looking ways of gradient shading I've done. But in a more subtle and controllable way than the smudge or blur tool, which in my experience are a little unwieldy and often look messy for shading.
So in this video here at 20 seconds in the artists selects the smooth water-colour brush which can add paint, but if stroked lightly it only blurs already existing paint.
I think they both have their pros a cons from each other, but there was one brush (or specifically brush setting) in CSP that I hoped might be in Photoshop. So I've been a Photoshop user for drawings for a good three or so years, and a few weeks ago I got Clip Studio Paint.
